The Human Health Therapeutic (HHT) Research Center at NRC is looking for a scientist to join the Cell Culture Scale Up team. The HHT research center has the mandate to support economic development through innovation in health care, including innovative therapies. It has a strong track record of collaborations with industry and academia, and is a major contributor to the prosperity of Canada's small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The research center's primary sector of activity is the biopharmaceutical industry. HHT targets SMEs in Canada developing therapeutics, biologics or vaccines, to address unmet needs in human health.

You will be responsible for developing innovative and robust bioprocesses using quality by design approach, supported by cutting-edge technologies. You will work incollaboration with other team and HHT stakeholders to establish commitments and provide feedback to help achieve expected results. During your professional development, you may acquire functional supervision responsibilities. **Screening Criteria**:
**Education**:
M.Sc or Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology, Bioprocess or Chemical engineering.

M. Sc. or Ph.D. degree in Molecular biology, Virology or related discipline with significant bioprocess engineering experience will be considered.

**Experience**:

- Significant practical R&D experience in cell culture, with cells in suspension and small-scale in flasks and bioreactors.
- Significant experience in the use of mammalian cell culture platforms (eg HEK293, CHO, Vero) for the production of complex biologics, such as viral vectors (hAAV, Lentivirus, adenovirus) viruses, vaccines and/or recombinant proteins.
- Experience in the design of experiments, bioprocess development and optimization.
- Experience in managing research projects and writing reports and scientific documentation.
- Experience in the functional characterization and analytics of complex biologics.
- Experience in the production of complex biologics at 50 liters scale or more will be considered an asset.

- Knowledge and hands-on experience in bioprocess development for mammalian expression systems using different analytical methods and optimization approach and technological trends applied to the manufacturing of biologics.
- Knowledge of the challenges of processes development applied to the production and scale up of complex biologics.
- Knowledge of project management principles, good practices and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety best practices in a safe and healthy work environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing including SOPs, presentations, guidelines, reports and scientific manuscripts.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices will be considered an asset.

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

**Compensation**:
The salary scale for this group is vast, from $57,220 to $161,754 per annum, which permits for employees of all levels from new graduates to world renowned experts to be fairly compensated for their contributions.
