**Key Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

- Preparation of Waste Service monthly financial reporting inclusive of financial statements, supplemental operating information and management, discussion and analysis of variances related to financial and operational performance.
- Assist business unit management in the coordination of project/job information (costs, resource, risk, etc.) to operational teams and other stakeholders. Communicate performance metrics for all project/jobs to various stakeholders through applicable platforms or information systems.
- Management and reporting of working capital; establish and manage DSO goal; management of disbursement. Sales tax and other regulatory reporting preparation and compliance. Capital expenditure management from initiation of authorization through to capitalization of the expenditure.
- Intercompany reporting and reconciliation.
- Provide support and financial guidance to Waste Service operational group and other stakeholders in an efficient and timely manner; includes financial evaluation of bids, monitoring company expenditures, identifying trends, contingency management etc. Partner with other groups within the business unit to reach budgeted and strategic goals.
- Prepare quarterly forecasts and annual budget for Waste Services. Liaising with management group and other employees to prepare forecast/budget. Provide analysis and explanation for variances and trends within the forecast and budget.
- Oversee/assist in the daily accounting and finance activities for the organization such as posting journal entries, processing customer and vendor invoices, cheque runs, account reconciliations, capital asset analysis where applicable.
- Manage and assist internal risk & control analyst in testing effectiveness of policies and procedures, ensuring adequate controls are in place and functioning.
- Support accounting and other related information systems; coordinate with information systems group to provide ongoing support of accounting and other related information systems.
- Providing assistance in setting the short
- and long-term goals of the financial accounting group and associated measurement and reporting of their progress.
- Hiring, mentoring, developing, and supervising (directly & indirectly) members within the financial accounting department.
- Preparation of ad-hoc financial & operational information on an as needed basis.
- Lead operational systems team to ensure day to day functionality of ERP for Waste Services.

**Qualifications and Education Requirements**
- 5-10 years post designation of proven and progressive accounting experience.
- Designated Accountant.
- University of college degree in accounting.
- This position requires a solid understanding of operational and financial accounting principles with divisional financial reporting experience. An understanding of consolidations of multiple entities in a complex legal organization structure.
- This position requires a solid understanding of multiple accounting frameworks inclusive to but not limited to IFRS, GAAP, FASB.
- Project accounting experience in construction is preferred but not required.
- Proven analytical capabilities and exceptional problem solving skills.
- In addition, the position requires a passion for process simplification and improvement, effective leadership and interpersonal skills, supervisory experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong business acumen.
- Advance Excel skills with working knowledge of PowerBI; SQL experience is a plus.
- AX and/or Microsoft D365 FO experience is an asset.
