**About us**:
Financial Services is a department within the Chief Financial Officer portfolio which supports the academic goals and objectives of the University through excellent financial management, and effective and appropriate use of all financial resources (operating, research, trust and capitalfunds). The University’s decentralized management model places financial management responsibility within every division of the University as well as within Financial Services. The major long-term priorities for the office includes:

- to meet legislative, regulatory and reporting requirements for financial activities;
- to direct and manage key activities with the external financial community on behalf of the University (e.g. banking, debt);
- to efficiently and effectively deliver core services to divisions that, for internal control and other reasons, must be provided centrally (e.g. cheque production, student fees).

**Your opportunity**:
The University’s capital projects over the next several years include several large buildings in addition to a large volume of renovation projects of existing buildings on all three campuses. Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Capital Accounting, this position will be responsible for the administration of capital funds, provide support to project managers, divisions and to management on matters related to capital funds. Your enthusiasm, organizational skills, attention to detail and high degree of accuracy will contribute to oursuccess.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Review and process fund commitments, purchase orders, and manual reserves for the individual capital projects in compliance with Procurement Services’ policies.
- Review and process invoices for payment and holdbacks where applicable.
- Verify change orders and vendor records for each capital project.
- Identify and resolve financial discrepancies in relation to invoice processing.
- Set up capital projects in FIS (e.g. post expense budget).
- Act as the first point of contact for Project Management.
- Maintain the master project listand supplementary files for each capital project.
- Maintain AP and project-related record filing.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Review and analyze the lifecycle of capital projects.
- Act as a backup support to another Accounting Clerk within the portfolio, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Completed advanced 3-year college diploma in a recognized accounting program and/or an acceptable combination of education and accounting experience.
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience in payment processing or equivalent experience.
- Experience in and understanding of the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of the University of Toronto’s Guide to Financial Management (fund management) and procurement guidelines.
- Intermediate skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive and Adobe Acrobat. Advanced experience with Excel is preferred.
- Proficiency in SAP based Administrative Management Systems (AMS) (e.g. FIS-Financial Information Systems or similar information systems).
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with a positive and professional attitude..
- Strong problem-solving skill.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure to meet frequent deadlines and conflicting demands.
- Ability to multi-task and to balance conflicting deadlines.
