**Job Summary**:
The Key Worker works flexible hours, which may include some evenings and weekends.

**Job Duties**:
1. Receive referrals and conduct initial consultations (ICs) of clients referred for service.

2. Assists the family to identify their internal and external supports.

3. Teaches techniques and strategies to adjust the environment to maximize their child’s success.

4. Develops, with the family and their support system, A Family Service plan that includes plan for crises to ensure the safety of the child, family and community.

5. Assist families to identify other community resources that may be helpful to them and assist in the referral process.

6. Teach families skills in self-advocacy and navigating the services systems.

7. Initiate and/or support FSP and ICM Integrated Case Management) meetings with the family.

8. Provide direct support and counselling to families as necessary and appropriate, seeking the clinical consultation as necessary and appropriate.

9. Develop and facilitate Parent-to-Parent support groups, ADHD parenting groups.

10. Present information to various stakeholders and the community about FASD/CDBC.

11. Represent the agency on internal and external community committees.

12. Educate the community about the Family Connections Program and role/function of the Key Worker.

13. Complete and maintain related records and documentation, including completing agency data-base information, including but not limited to documenting appointments, FSP’s, goals, objectives, progress, and outcomes.

14. Assure on-going professional development, as approved by agency management.

15. Perform other related duties as assigned and required.

**Education, Training and Experience**

1. Graduation from a recognized College or University with a minimum Bachelor degree in Human/Social Sciences. plus a broad base of experience working with families of children with complex or challenging behaviours or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

2. A minimum of two (2) years related, relevant experience.

3. Class V driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for business purposed.

**Skills and Abilities**

1. Ability to form and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of families and colleagues, in the agency and in the community**.**

2. Demonstrated group facilitation and teaching skills.

3. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with people from diverse backgrounds.

4. Organization/Coordination/Administrative skills: ability to multi-task effectively, manage time effectively, implement strategies to ensure service effectiveness.

5. Solid knowledge of child and adolescent growth and development.

6. Familiarity with community resources and ability to access them.

7. Familiarity with the “wraparound” philosophy and process.
