**Position summary**

The purpose of the Practicum and Employment Specialist is to ensure that students gain hands-on experience and employment in their chosen career field. The Practicum and Employment Specialist is responsible for sourcing and securing practicum placements that align with the learning objectives of the program and student. This includes locating new practicum sites, maintaining relationships with employers, coordinating practicum paperwork, and preparing students to make the exciting transition from classroom learning to practicum experience. The Practicum and Employment Specialist will assist graduates with solid career development advice and develop relationships with local employers, businesses, and government agencies to benefit the employment opportunities of our graduates.

**Job responsibilities**
- Developing external relationships to ensure students have the opportunity for practicum placements within their industry.
- Collaborating with Instructors to determine practicum placement experiences for students.
- Contributing to and monitoring the quality of the student experience
- Supporting the administrative functions of the campus to enhance the student experience.
- Analyze and utilize current local labour market information to source employment opportunities for participants.
- Coach and support participants as they look for work.
- Initiate, promote, organize, and host a wide range of industry/employer events to enhance participant employment opportunities.
- Conduct group or individual workshops and classes on interview skills and job search strategies.
- Educate students about resume building, interview process, job expectation and professionalism.
- Interview current students, recent graduates, and Alumni, to understand their career goals and accordingly provide career guidance.
- Perform practicum follow ups to ensure all placement objectives are being met including performance and attendance.
- Ensure all insurance documents are accessible and up to date for practicum purposes.
- Supporting development of new programs by collecting required employer testimonials and collection of appropriate documentation.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of curriculum / program, certifications, and industry requirements.
- Eloft administrator.
- Assist with other office duties as required.
- Travel withing the HRM will be required.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

- Ability to develop networks and maintain contacts within the business community.
- Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Good judgment and ability to prioritize assignments.
- Exhibits patience and strong active listening skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods.
- Ability to reach both quarterly and yearly goals consistently.
- Understanding of the strategic plan, programs and services provided by the College.
- Ability to exhibit a professional attitude and image with a commitment to quality service.

**Education and Experience**:

- Completion of post-secondary education.
- A minimum of three years' experience in a related field, such as recruitment or career development.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

A Social Media and Criminal Record check will be conducted.

Pay: $48,000.00-$52,000.00 per year
