**Overview**:
We are looking for a motivated individual who is looking to work in the legal field. We are a small group of paralegals that works mainly in Landlord & Tenant Law, as well as a few other more specialized areas. Before I get the usual bah bah bah with the job duties, I want to emphasize that we are looking for personality and work culture fit. Your immediate boss is an individual with well-managed ADHD, who can be somewhat unfocused until it really matters, and then they become hyper-focused. We are looking for a relaxed, go with the flow personality who is not intimidated with a semi-structured work environment. More than anything, this job requires patience and people skills. There are days when you will feel like a therapist to clients, so it’s essential to have good self-care skills.
**Now we get to the duties,**
Your primary duty will be to manage the administrative tasks and stay on top of all the deadlines and filings that come with managing a large caseload. The raw legal work is handled by the paralegals in the office, but the day-to-day monitoring of task deadlines and simple filings would be managed by you.
The job is heavily administrative and requires managing and monitoring hundreds of tasks over long periods. It’s not as intimidating as it sounds but it does require a particular personality that enjoys that sort of thing. You would be acting as the counterbalance to an ADHD paralegal.
You will frequently be asked to draft new policies and procedures when we have learned a new or more efficient way of completing a task or set of tasks.
**Hours**:
We are looking to hire full-time, 40+ hours a week. The job starts at $20/hr with health and dental benefits (there is a waiting period). We are very flexible with childcare pickup and drop-off if that is a concern. The role would be mostly in person with the option of remote work where required or beneficial.
**Experience**:
Some experience in the legal profession is nice but is NOT a requirement. We are looking to train and mold our new team members to our procedures and processes. If you are a great book learner, enjoy or can at least tolerate dry materials then this is the job for you.
**Education**:
A bachelor’s degree (B.A.) is nice but not required; a law clerk education is nice but not required. If you are a licensed paralegal, or soon to be licensed as a paralegal, you will **not** be a good fit for this role. What matters is that you can demonstrate good problem-solving skills working with limited information that you will often need to research yourself.
