**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Manager, and under the direction of the Coordinator, Booking Services, schedules patients for surgery according to the established OR booking model and procedures which includes knowledge of surgeons by specialty, procedures they are credentialed to perform, consideration of surgical specialty, patient risk factors relevant to the scheduled procedure, and equipment and resource availability in the different OR areas and other departments. Uses a personal computer, electronic scheduling and registration software, and related word processing, database, and spreadsheet software tools, as required.

Follows Island Health access and waitlist management policies as directed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Grade 12 and three years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to deal effectively with others.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
