**Assistant Director of Commuter Life, Commuter & Graduate Programs**
Position Purpose and Summary
The vision of Trinity Western University is to equip every graduate to think truthfully, act justly, and live faithfully for the good of the World and the glory of God. Our students are learning within the context of an increasingly diverse community engaging on multiple campuses and online as part of a global Christian University. They face significant challenges like distraction, disintegration, loneliness and mental health challenges, further enhanced by cultural adaptation realities as international students. As we seek to equip them for life beyond graduation, there is high value to equipping them as part of what Martin Luther King, Jr called ‘a beloved community’.
The Associate Director of Community Life, Commuter & Graduate Programs is an experienced professional staff member responsible for the vision, planning and implementation of community development programs within Trinity Western University, providing a living-learning, community-focused environment for commuter, residential and graduate students, within the Marlie Snider Collegia Program.
Key Areas of Accountability
- Assist the Director of Commuter Life in casting vision and planning for a growing and diversified commuter and graduate populace within a community-based student development program**.**:
- Select, orient, train, disciple and supervise commuter, residential and graduate student leaders as part of the Marlie Snider Collegia Program.
- Provide leadership for the spaces with In the Marlie Snider Collegia Program while working in partnership with the larger Student Life team to achieve community-building goals and learning outcomes across campus. This includes facilitating the following:
- The development of supportive, encouraging, and transformational relationships among commuter, residential and graduate students.
- The transition of new commuter, residential and graduate students to one of the four spaces within the Marlie Snider Collegia Program.
- The fulfillment of TWU's mission to develop all students as godly Christian leaders.
- An atmosphere in the Marlie Snider Collegia spaces that is conducive to academic learning, spiritual growth, community membership and holistic student development.
- Plan and carry out appropriate group and individual selection, training, supervision, and leadership for assigned student leaders, including but not limited to:
- Large group training sessions for assigned student leaders during the annual Student Leader Orientation Week.
- Weekly team meetings that equip, develop, and encourage assigned student leaders.
- Regular small group meetings with assigned student leaders.
- Evaluations of student leaders and their communities annually.
- Team building activities for student leaders, including an annual retreat and reorientation.
- Student leader applicant interviews and selection processes.
- Partner with other Student Life staff and faculty in the development of core educational and other relevant programs that address the specific needs of commuter, residential and graduate students.
- Administrative duties associated with serving on committees, selecting and evaluating commuter, residential and graduate student leader staff, integrating commuter, residential and graduate students, advising commuter, residential and graduate student groups, and appropriately responding to campus community needs.
- Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations, special events and ongoing repairs of the Marlie Snider Collegia Program facilities.
- Manage commuter and graduate student conduct in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and other governing policies. Participate as a Student Conduct Officer as needed.
- Oversee the Marlie Snider Collegia Prgram membership processes, including marketing (internal and external) and negotiation of "Memorandums of Understanding" with various Graduate programs.
- Oversight of Honor Bar processes: (food delivery, invoices and deposits) ensuring a balanced account.
- Ensure compliance with the CAS (Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education) with regard to programs and services that affect students within the Marlie Snider Collegia Program.
