**JOB DESCRIPTION FOR HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER**

**Reports To**

Senior Management, Inter-Canada Fisheries.

**Job Summary**

The Human Resources Manager, under the direction of the Senior Management, will primarily be responsible to participate in the strategic planning for Human resource needs, recruitment and selection of the employees. This position will approve vacation requests and monitor vacation schedules to ensure appropriate coverage. This role will also determine areas of improvement for employees, providing additional training as needed. The Human Resources Manager must possess certificate in human resource management and degree or an advanced degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the industry.

**Job Duties**
- Determine staffing requirements and perform recruitment and selection of the staff.
- To conduct annual performance appraisals of the employees and make action for improvement.
- Oversee personnel management, including wage increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies.
- To administer Payworks, setup new employees, making electronic files and process payroll on bi-weekly basis.
- To administer the group benefit insurance plan and making plan advancement suggestions.
- Oversee the orientation/onboarding of new hires and the training of all employees
- Approve vacation requests and monitor vacation schedules to ensure appropriate coverage
- Determine areas of improvement for employees, providing additional training as needed.
- Organize workplace events, company quarterly lunch etc.
- To send group greeting cards, gift cards to the employees on the birthday.
- To be a member of Joint Health and Safety Committee and participate in the JHSC Meeting
- To administer WSIB and make claim in case of workplace accidents and injuries
- Frame and implement the workplace policies and procedures.
- Develop employee training, ensuring that all applicable compliance requirements are met
- Develop strategic performance metrics and targets that are consistent with company goals
- Develop training programs that are based on regulatory requirements and best practices
- Ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations
- Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
- Ensure that employees adhere to all health and safety regulations
- Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, and formal evaluations
- Handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations
- Monitor assigned payroll activities and/or program components for the purpose of ensuring effective department functioning, coordinating activities and ensuring compliance with established financial, legal and/or administrative requirements
- Participate in site and workplace inspections
- Provide leadership and coaching to managers and employees on key workplace matters such as performance management, difficult conversations, employee relations, and employee development

**Job Requirements**
- Certificate in Human Resource Management
- Degree or an advanced degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the industry
- CHRP will be an asset
- Three years of experience in human resources or a management role
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation specific to our industry
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Experience administering progressive discipline
- Experience managing STD, LTD, and return to work programs
- Experience with coaching and employee development
- A well defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
