The incumbent is responsible for effectively and accurately processing the full cycle, confidential, complex, semi-monthly payroll for all Corporate employees. The incumbent will act as a resource to all of our internal departments and to all Senior Executives for payroll matters and ensures that the payroll policies and procedures are being followed and comply with internal and external audit requirements.

**Key Activities**:

- Processing the full cycle of multi-province, semi-monthly payroll for salary and hourly employees in an accurate and timely manner
- Administer various payments such as, but not limited to, commissions, bonuses, severances, vacation pays, etc.
- Respond to inquiries from all stakeholders regarding payroll matters in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner
- Review and applies relevant provincial ESA requirements ensuring all calculations in the payroll are correct
- Process and balance payments to third parties - garnishments and RRSP payments ensuring that deductions are in accordance with provincial and federal legislations and according to corporate policies
- Drives the business requirements for Corporate set up in HCM and completes the testing of the changes
- Prepare and balance all GL’s
- Prepare and remit all semi-monthly tax remittances
- Prepare, balance and run all year end tax slips, T2200’s, and regulatory tax filings on a timely basis
- Assemble reports driven by the business such as, but not limited to, earnings, deductions, HR data, QC Training earnings
- Ensure that internal controls are complied with for all payroll processes
- Special projects as assigned and other duties as appropriate and required
- Other duties as assigned by the Director

**_Regulatory Compliance:_**
- Conducts duties in accordance with Chartwell policies and procedures, as well as government regulations, laws and policies.
- Understands and follows all health and safety policies and procedures. Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self and other staff members. Promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of staff members’ personal information.

**Qualifications**:
**_Experience:_**
- If the Education requirement is not met, a minimum of 3 years of payroll experience with solid Canadian payroll knowledge
- Experience using Fusion HCM (or other cloud payroll system) and ADP/PCPW experience is an asset
- Payroll based accounting knowledge

**_Education:_**
- CPA Certification (CPM) or in progress

**_Skills & Abilities:_**
- A good understanding of all provincial laws and requirements
- Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel (eg. Knowledge of Pivot Tables and Vlookup)
- Exceptional customer service orientation and discretion
- Well-organized, detailed self-motivated, high energy, thrives in a high pressure environment and displays a sense of urgency
- Committed, conscientious, ethical, team player and individual contributor
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
