**East Tea Can** is a progressive Middle Eastern restaurant concept, serving eclectic Middle Eastern mezza and grills in a casual full-service setup. Offering fun and exciting dishes from around the Middle East.

We are opening a new location in Toronto, at The Well, and looking for experienced cooks, that can demonstrate adequate knowledge and understanding of food preparation, cooking and new restaurant openings.It's the right job for people with passion for cooking and exploring different cooking techniques and progressive menus.

**Line/Prep Cook duties and responsibilities**:

- Keeping the kitchen clean and orderly
- Ensuring all ingredients are in stock for the Chef to complete their menu
- Parboiling foods, cooking, grilling, frying, etc allowing the Chef to prepare the menu more efficiently
- Seasoning and preparing the necessary ingredients for cooking
- Preparing some dishes such as salads, stews, meat marinations sauces, or other less complex menu items
- following the daily/ weekly production schedule set by the Chef.

- Good verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- knowledge of kitchen health and safety requirements
- knowledge of safe food storage guidelines
- Ability to use kitchen utensils safely, including, robot coupe, blenders, vacuum machine, ovens, grill, deep fryer etc....
- Ability to take direction and work as a team player
- Previous experience in food preparation
- Be able to frequently lift and carry up to Is able to frequently lift and carry up to 24 kg/50 lbs;
- Has an understanding of kitchen techniques and basic skills
- Experience managing inventory and proper product use to eliminate waste and spoilage
- Has solid problem solving, decision making, customer service and communication skills;
- Has a good command of both spoken and written English.
- Have experience as a Cook in a similar environment such as a hotel, restaurant, catering, commissary or other fast paced high-volume establishment;
- Has a flexible schedule.

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week

**Experience**:

- Cooking/prep: 1 year (required)
