Collections Specialist

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Maintain accurate records of interaction or attempted interaction with clients.
- Assists in the development of payment tactics and strategies for assigned accounts.
- Negotiate payment arrangement with clients suitable to all parties
- Establish extended payment plans or terms modifications when required.
- Prepare reports highlighting anticipated write-offs/income.
- Prepare Term Modification Agreements
- Conduct various searches and pull reports for management.
- Prepare and set up re-payment run batches on a semi-monthly basis.
- Recommend further action when all in-house collection options have been exhausted.
- Resolve disputed items through research of all available information and communicate the outcome.
- Prepare default claims submissions to stakeholders
- Ensure accurate contact and mailing information and if need be, update appropriate databases.
- Attend weekly update meetings with the Director, Account Solutions and Collections Manager to provide an account of the progress.
- Manage updates from third party collection agencies or legal department as required.
- Inform management of difficult issues arising during the collection process.
- Schedule and attend client meetings.

**Education / Experience Requirements**:

- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Previous collection and or phone-based customer service experience at a financial institution is strongly preferred.
