**Position**

The RSON/ROAM Local Network Coordinator is a part-time contracted position with the Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc). The Coordinator provides support to the Local Working Group for Port Alberni’s Rural Surgical and Obstetrical Network (RSON) and the Rural Obstetrical and Maternity Sustainability Program (ROAM-SP). The Coordinator works closely with ROAM and RSON Project Managers and reports to the Clinical Leads for the network.

Led by rural physicians, RCCbc is a network that improves the health of people and communities in rural British Columbia. Funded primarily by the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues, our network partners include healthcare providers, healthcare administrators, community members, policymakers, educators, researchers, and non-profit and business leaders.

The Rural Surgical and Obstetrical Networks (RSON) initiative is a multi-organization effort to sustain the infrastructure of rural surgical and maternity programs and enhance rural health care. The Coordinator helps animate the collaborative partnerships that enable the network to function, liaising with stakeholders including physicians, nurses, and other health care practitioners, hospital and health authority administrators, UBC, and representatives from other organizations.

RSON has five component pillars through which it provides program activities. The Coordinator supports the work of each of the pillars, while also supporting the network as a whole. The five pillars are: Clinical Coaching, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), Remote Presence Technology, Increased Scope and Volume, and Network Evaluation.

The Rural Obstetrical and Maternity Sustainability Program (ROAM-SP) funds maternity teams in rural British Columbia to strengthen their peer, facility and regional networks and enhance rural maternity care services. ROAM also helps rural communities to develop and roll out tailored plans that address the specific needs of their maternity care providers.

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**
- Be the primary contact for practitioners within the network
- Be the primary liaison with the RCCbc office
- Be the primary liaison with additional organizations, including UBC Continuing Professional Development (Clinical Coaching pillar) and the Centre for Rural Health Research (Evaluation pillar)
- Coordinate local support for the ongoing ROAM, RSON and community initiatives, including, but not limited to, coaching and quality improvement projects.
- Prepare local budget, track all sessional claims and expenses, track and assist with quarterly invoicing for Health Authority wage reimbursement
- Develop proposals and planning documents for local initiatives
- Assist practitioners within the network with duties as required, including booking travel and accommodation, scheduling assistance for network activities, and completing claim forms for these activities
- Maintain and track financial accounts, and determine eligibility of reimbursement according to established policies and guidelines
- Keep track of financial claims including requisitions, invoices, and travel claims
- Send financial claims to RCCbc for processing
- Coordinate and support full network meetings, including booking space, scheduling Zoom/ MS Teams, arranging catering, preparing agenda materials, and taking notes
- Maintain member distribution lists
- Provide local support for visits to Port Alberni by visitors from RCCbc and the RSON pillars
- Coordinate local support for the ongoing activities of the RSON pillars, especially local coordination for the Clinical Coaching pillar
- Liaise and coordinate with other funding organizations such as Facilities Engagement Initiative, CAMP, QT4RBC that support goals and initiatives related to rural health enhancement.

**Experience**
- Proven ability and experience with project coordination
- Demonstrated collaborative skills
- Demonstrated administrative skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of, interest in, and commitment to, rural health services
- Experience working with healthcare providers and health authorities is an asset
- Experience with financial processing and/or budgeting an asset
- University degree preferred
- Computer skills required (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
