**Unscheduled Part-Time (Casual) Maintenance Person**

Algonquin Nursing Home is located in the town of Mattawa, Ontario. Our 73-bed bilingual facility is dedicated to providing “A Place Called Home” in long-term care for the people of Mattawa, East Nipissing, and other residents of Ontario. We are sponsored by the Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario and licensed under the Ministry of Health, and accredited by Accreditation Canada. Our goal is to use a team approach in order to provide a safe, clean, comfortable, and pleasing home atmosphere for residents and their families.

**We are seeking a highly motivated Casual Maintenance Worker who will be responsible for maintaining a safe and functional physical plant, equipment, and grounds.**

**Primary Duties**:

- Ensures compliance with applicable legislation and regulations;
- Maintains buildings, grounds, and equipment;
- Provides liaison with contractors, and material and equipment suppliers;
- Performs daily inspections of building, utility systems, equipment and grounds to evaluate need for alterations and repairs, and for compliance with ordinances and safety regulations;
- Accompanies authorities inspecting buildings and utility systems;
- Solicits and receives bids for repairs/construction;
- Ensures that Preventative Maintenance Agreement (PMA) are monitored for all systems;
- Other duties, as required.

**Mandatory Requirements for the Designated Lead - Maintenance, as described in Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and Regulation 246/22**:

- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and, prevailing practices relating to maintenance, as applicable; and
- Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity or, appropriate skills, knowledge and experience in a health care or relevant setting to perform the duties required of the position.

**Additional Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field or, appropriate skills, knowledge and experience in maintenance work _(required)_
- Ability to work weekends _(required)_
- Availability to work as required on a call in basis, in the event of an issue with the physical plant, equipment or grounds
- Bilingual in English and French _(preferred)_
- Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector _(required)_

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: From $27.28 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- On call
- Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Mattawa, ON P0H 1V0: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
