Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS) is looking for an outstanding individual to develop curriculum content and teaching materials for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion micro-credential. This program consists of 2 compulsory courses and 3 electives. Learners will have the opportunity to integrate different perspectives and experiences in relation to equity, diversity and inclusion, enhance their capacity to be a more inclusive employee/colleague/leader, and leave with concrete actions that can be taken to engage more inclusive practices, language and behaviours. The program will be delivered via our Learning Management System (Brightspace).

Sheridan’s Curriculum Development Subject Matter Experts (SME) are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.

What You’ll be Doing

Setting clear and transparent expectations and instructions for content delivery to facilitators who will be providing student-centric academic support, and will be collaborating with CAPS Leadership, Support Staff, and Sheridan Student Services as required

Designing active learning strategies and educational experiences using best practices, updating Learning Management System (SLATE) course site and Master sites, utilizing resources and supports to continually advance and improve scholarship of teaching and learning

Providing clear formative and summative feedback frameworks to be used for objective evaluation of the students’ work

Attending periodic CAPS and completing mandatory employee training

About You

You have the skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse student and staff population as well as a proven commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and inclusion.

You are a self-directed natural leader and have a highly collaborative spirit which, combined with your keen interpersonal skills, empowers you to build positive and collaborative relationships and create and maintain a positive organizational culture.

You have excellent oral and written communication skills and proven effectiveness as an instructor.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in the related fields

Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in a related field of study is preferred. Relevant experience and expertise will be considered equivalent to formal education.

Certification or completion of an EDI program with an accredited organization

Thorough understanding and working knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Anti-Racism Act

Curriculum development and design experience at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.
