The Mustard Seed is a Christian humanitarian organization whose vision is to build community, grow hope and support change. The Mustard Seed provides basic services—food, clothing and housing, and support services—education and employment, to those living in poverty within Alberta and British Columbia.

The Neighbour Centre Program Facilitator will participate in and facilitate programs which are essential to the alleviation of poverty and homelessness and build healthy relationships between stakeholders in The Mustard Seed’s diverse community.

This position will run existing programs, create new programs, assist in front desk duties and work alongside clients to foster relationships and develop client led programs in our Shaganappi Village Neighbour Centre location.

Reporting to: Community Hubs Supervisor
Location: Shaganappi Hub

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Plan and implement community engagement activities for clients
- Assist with our Neighbour Centre Program host duties
- Liaise with the leaders of groups attending the programs
- Facilitate programming with program volunteers and when staff/ volunteer(s) is absent
- Assist volunteers and/ or practicum students in program facilitation
- Jointly organize activities with the external and internal resources
- Attend staff meetings and other training as required
- Providing front line support to guests needing access to services and urgently needed resources
- Providing crisis intervention with de-escalation, providing naloxone and liaising with CPS when applicable
- Other duties as assigned

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Diploma or degree in related field is an asset
- Experience working with vulnerable clientele and facilitating programming
- Empathy for the vulnerable and a desire for greater understanding concerning poverty and justice issues in an urban center
- Strong computer, communication and conflict resolution skills
- Interest and skills in recreational activities is an asset
- Strong team building skills

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Working environment will include indoor and outdoor activities, office work on computer, lifting and some travel will be required
- Evenings and weekends hours maybe required to accommodate the hours of the community hubs
- Physical and mental effort will be moderate
- Valid Driver’s License, Driver’s Abstract and Employment Security Check is required
- Must have a vehicle
- Position is a 12 month contract position
