The Head Coach of the Panther Varsity Women’s Volleyball program is responsible for the recruitment, development, implementation and evaluation of the technical, tactical and physical curriculum which prepares the student-athlete for successful competition within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). This is a part-time position which requires weekday, daytime and evening hours, as well as weekends.

The volleyball season begins with try-outs the first week of September. Invitational tournaments and the competitive OCAA league season commences mid-October leading to the OCAA provincials in February followed by the Nationals in March.

The team practices three times a week (1.5 - 2 hours/practice) and participates in daily fitness program requirements. Canadore competes within the OCAA league and plays some exhibition games and tournaments. Support personnel includes Assistant Coaches and Team Therapist who are present at one practice per week and all home games.

As a representative, ambassador and advocate for the Canadore Panther Varsity Women’s Volleyball Program, the Head Coach will enhance the varsity athletic portfolio and play a central role in supporting the College’s commitment to its 5 Pillars; _Student Success, Program and Service Excellence, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Connection to Community and Sustainability_.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop the overall athletic plans (long range to daily lesson plans) to maximize player and team development
- Prepare offensive and defensive strategies and systems
- Identify and recruit quality student-athletes
- Maintain effective communication and administrative systems amongst coaches, players and athletic staff
- Respect and support the OCAA, CCAA and Canadore College policies and procedures
- Motivate and mentor student-athletes to succeed academically and athletically

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Successful completion of the National Coaching Certification (NCCP) Train to train/Development Coach certification or equivalent status
- Completion of the NCCP Level I Practical, technical and theory preferred
- Minimum of five years recent coaching experience
- Demonstrated sound administrative skills, strong motivational abilities and commitment to fair play
- Must be of good character and have demonstrated a high caliber of leadership, sportsmanship and coaching performance
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated positive relations with the OVA, school and club coaches for the purpose of recruitment
- Availability and flexibility for extensive domestic travel during the OCAA league season
- Valid Ontario’s Driver’s License required
- Must be able to reliably commute and/or relocate to North Bay, ON required

Willingness to travel:

- 50% (preferred)
