Inside the Role

The Legal Intern will review legal and corporate documents, as directed by General Counsel and with input from the Compliance Officer. The intern will create presentation materials for the Legal Department, as needed, and will conduct high-level research on legal, business, and regulatory matters on an ad hoc basis. Student Intern will also be required to facilitate records management activities for DTFS Canada through close collaboration with the General Counsel and the Compliance Officer and provide requisites assistance to the Legal Department. Finally, the Intern will need to be a problem-solver and must be willing and able to find solutions to everyday issues.

What You Drive at DTFS
- Work directly with the General Counsel and/or Compliance Officer on research, filing, organizational and other tasks
- Review contracts and other legal documents to ensure conformance with corporate standards
- Research legal issues and questions as they arise and assist the General Counsel and/or Compliance Officer with responses and general research
- Assist in gathering documents and other information in response to subpoenas or other requests
- Provide administrative support as necessary for ad hoc projects as assigned

Knowledge You Should Bring
- Pursuing undergraduate degree or post-secondary education in any field
- Strong oral and written communication skills required
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
- Creative thought mindset required
- Driven and motivated by a fast-paced environment and have a willingness to learn and be challenged by continual professional development
- Interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment required
- Thrive on cooperation and collaboration within a team as an enthusiastic individual contributor
- Previous legal work experience in an office setting will be an asset
