**Working for the Department**

The School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Alberta was the first school of public health accredited in Canada in 2012 by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). SPH offers a course-based Master of Public Health (MPH), an MA in Community Engagement (course-based and thesis-based), and thesis (MSc and PhD) graduate programs, supported by 31 faculty members. Currently, there are approximately 400 graduate students. SPH is among the top 5 research-intensive faculties in the University of Alberta.

Launching in Fall 2023, the Master of Public Health (MPH) in General Public Health is designed to equip practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to play roles in key public health functions such as assessment, planning, action implementation, and evaluation, in governmental, non-governmental, community-based, and industry settings across sectors and jurisdictions.

**Position Summary**

**Duties**
- The appointee would primarily teach in the professional practice programs in the School of Public Health, particularly the MPH and MACE degree programs. The appointee would be expected to teach required courses in the curriculum for the General MPH degree (for more information on the courses, see the website listed below).
- As part of the teaching workload, the position includes additional duties related to course coordination, curriculum revision and development of courses aimed at undergraduate students. Advising of course-based students (i.e., MPH and MACE) would be expected. There is also potential for time devoted to research and supervision of graduate students, largely through participation as a member of supervisory committees.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Applicants must have advance training in the field of Public Health posessing a Masters or Doctorate degree in Public Health or in a related discipline;
- A minimum of 5 years of related public health experience in governmental, non-governmental, community-based, or industry settings, guiding and leading public health policy and action;
