Job Summary

The Training Coordinator may also participate on project teams in a variety of areas, all in an effort to deliver an effective service continuum to the Faculty. As with all members of our team, the incumbent will contribute to programs and initiatives in areas such as communication, and education, in some cases playing a lead role. The incumbent is both an active advocate for and liaison with the Faculty of Health Sciences user community.

**Job Description**:

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Consult with faculty members throughout the Faculty to identify educational and support needs and help determine the best ways to address them.
- Provides first and second level support to users of our online learning environments, and assist in the creation and integration of content.
- Liaise between end-user and other support personnel within the Faculty of Health Sciences to support in resolving client issues with software and identifying where improvements can be made.
- Operate and maintain current processes and systems; interpret and modify data, systems and information.
- Participate in Faculty of Health Sciences public relations events and initiatives.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Three-year post-secondary program with several years' experience in providing IT support in a higher education environment.
- In depth knowledge of online learning environments or learning management systems, to assist faculty with creation and integration of content.
- Demonstrated experience with web development technologies & tools.
- Project management experience with an understanding of effective project management practices & principles.
- Demonstrated customer service background.
- Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- A clear understanding of the role of information technology in higher education and how it is being leveraged at the Faculty of Health Sciences and in other areas of the University.
- An ability to learn and stay current with the rapidly evolving IT industry and to adapt quickly to changes in technology and new situations.
- Ability to explain and instruct in order to participate in delivery training and provide guidance to students, staff and faculty, etc.
- An ability to explain technical terms and concepts in a manner appropriate to the user.
- Customer service skills, even under very demanding circumstances.
- Good interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written) to interact with a diverse group of individuals with various levels of technological sophistication.
- Problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to manage time well, and juggle multiple duties.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow formal business practices.

**DECISION MAKING**:

- Determine cause of problem by assessing symptoms and system behaviour, by combining their expertise with methodical diagnosis and process of elimination.
- Selecting appropriate corrective action to resolve a problem in an optimal manner, showing care that one problem's solution will not give rise to other problems.
- Continuously assess and adjust priorities, and manage tasks under demanding conditions.
- Determine the best way to deliver training to meet the needs of users.
- Make recommendations for training courses based on analysis, course feedback, trends, and surveys.
- Determine logistics when planning training programs.
