**Quality Improvement Specialist**:
**Primary Purpose**:Provide support to the Department of Surgery in reviewing their Quality Improvement strategy and initiatives and make recommendations for new initiatives.

**Nature of Work**:Reporting to the Provincial Head of Surgery, this position will work independently to review existing structures and make recommendations for new initiatives. Consultation with members of the Saskatchewan Health Authority and other health system individuals will be required. This is a work-from-home position with virtual meetings required.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Review existing and proposed quality improvement strategies, projects and resources within the Department of Surgery and the Saskatchewan Health Authority
- Review quality improvement literature and best practices from high performing organizations
- Develop strategy document and high level implementation plan for a new Department of Surgery Quality Improvement Strategy that encompasses best practices and aligns with SHA’s goals and objectives.
- Effectively establish work scope, timelines, work plans, and accountabilities for self to ensure quality and clarity of scope for project
- Provide timely updates to the Provincial Head of Surgery

**Education**:

- A graduate degree, supplemented by at least 10 years-experience in the health quality improvement field.
- Continuing education in continuous quality improvement

**Experience**:At least ten years-experience in continuous quality improvement and strategic planning. Understanding of continuous quality improvement strategy and implementation practices acquired through education and work experience. Experience with stakeholder consultation, meeting planning and facilitation, project management, and document review is important for this work.
