**Position Requirements and Responsibilities**:
During the course of this term, success will be measured by the ability to achieve/exceed mutually agreed upon quarterly fundraising goals.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Acquisition of New Donors**:

- Collaborate closely with the Director of Communications and Social Media & Communications Coordinator to develop and execute strategic plans aimed at acquiring new donors. This will include digital marketing across multiple channels.
- Partner with the Director of Communications to curate and maintain development-related content and tools across online and print platforms, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in messaging and branding.
- Work alongside the Director of Communications and Executive Director to establish and uphold a cohesive fundraising strategy among staff, board members, and volunteers regarding donor acquisition and fundraising initiatives at The Fur-Bearers. This includes providing training and resources to ensure all stakeholders are well-equipped to communicate the organization's mission and encourage giving effectively.

**Donor Stewardship**:

- Cultivate strong relationships with existing donors to ensure ongoing support and engagement.
- Develop and implement a donor stewardship program that will include existing systems, donor journey automation, LYBUNT and SYBUNT management, and acquisition strategies.
- Develop personalized stewardship plans for major donors, including regular communication, recognition, and involvement opportunities.

**Identify New Sources of Funding**:

- Conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities, including grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors.
- Create opportunities for peer-to-peer fundraising,events, and in-kind giving.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in fundraising to optimize fundraising efforts.
- Utilize tools of our CMS to maximize its use for development.
- Collaboration, reporting and general administration:

- Maintain accurate donor records and databases to track donor interactions and fundraising progress.
- Prepare regular reports on fundraising activities, donor acquisition, and revenue projections for organizational leadership.
- Ensure development is consistent with The Fur-Bearers’ and Canada Revenue Agency requirements.
- Ensure proper electronic and hard copy filing of proposals, donor gift agreements, acknowledgements, stewardship letters and reports and correspondence.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education in a related field - college minimum, university preferred - or a combination of education, comparable skills and experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience working in a fundraising environment, preferably for a Canadian non-profit or charity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience working with one or a variety of fundraising databases is an asset (preferably Keela).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and very strong person-to-person relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands.
- Proven ability to exercise empathy, listening skills, diplomacy and good judgment.
- Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Qualified to work full time in Canada.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of The Fur-Bearers.
- Demonstrated love for wildlife, animals and animal welfare.
