**Main Purpose and Function**
- laws and policies. The Planner I will work closely with staff in other divisions on diverse projects such as Vancouver Plan zoning implementation, including District Schedule development and RM zoning simplification, and overall policy coordination.

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities.**
- Supports the development of regulations and amendments to the City’s Zoning & Development By-law, city
- wide by-laws and policies.
- Prepares proposed by-law and land use policy amendments.
- Provides support and advice to other divisions within Planning, Urban Design & Sustainability and City departments on projects with a city-wide scope.
- Supports the Policy Implementation Advisory Committee and policy coordination initiatives.
- Liaises with, coordinates and synthesizes inputs from other divisions within Planning, Urban Design & Sustainability and other City Departments.
- Conducts complex policy research and data analysis.
- Coordinates public consultation processes and consultation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides writing, research, and the preparation of visual materials for presentation to internal staff, external stakeholders, public meetings and City Council.
- Provides direction and guidance to the work of professional consultants engaged by the City. Prepares and manages work programs.
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

**Qualifications**

Education and Experience:

- A degree in Urban Planning, or a related field, recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is desired.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with City policies, guidelines and by-laws including the Zoning & Development By-law is required.
- Experience in the development and review of land use policies and regulations. Strong policy and data research and analysis skills are required.
- Experience in planning and implementing public consultation activities, and developing communications and visual materials (including graphics and maps) for public open houses, stakeholder workshops, and online and social media campaigns.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills, proven ability to facilitate problem solving among diverse and competing interests.
- Ability to work independently and participate successfully on teams.
- Demonstrable skills and proven ability in the following software are requirements: word processing (Word), quantitative analysis (Excel), presentations (PowerPoint), preparation of visual materials (Adobe CreativeSuite) and geographical data analysis skills (ArcGIS) are strongly desired.
