**Position Title**: Employer Liaison, YMCA YCafe Training program

**Location**:Tong Louie YMCA (Surrey)

**Terms**: Term, Full-Time

**Hours**:35 Hours per week

**Status**: 2-month temporary position, effective until March 31st, 2024

**Reports To**: Supervisor, YCafe Training program

**Nature and Scope**:
The YMCA Ycafe Training program is designed to support participants to Embark on a 10-week journey into the Food and Beverage industry with the YCafe Training Program, blending hands-on experience, classroom training, and personalized coaching. Participants build essential skills, make valuable industry connections, and receive compensation.

The Employer Liaison has the primary responsibility of working directly with employers, partners, and participants of the program to set up work placements and provide on-going follow-up supports. The position will involve outreach to the community in order to promote and recruit participants and establishing connections with businesses in order to develop job opportunities as participants move towards employment. The work environment is very fast-paced, with a high volume of program participants.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Initiates and maintains on-going contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement
- Makes cold calls to potential employers
- Maintains contact with employers during the participants' employment and reports results to appropriate staff
- Coordinates and supports job placements for program participants
- Locates jobs for participants who have successfully completed training programs
- Provides labour market and community resource information
- Coordinate employer working group meeting to evaluate participant employment results and gather suggestions on potential training and skills gaps.
- Research internet, agencies, and other resources for job leads
- Develops and executes creative outreach strategies to recruit program participants
- Provides coverage for facilitation and delivery of employment workshops
- Matches job skills with applicant qualifications
- Travels across Vancouver and Lower Mainland for meetings (mileage is provided)

**Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary Degree or Certificate in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Established relationships within the local business community and proven track record in job placement recruitment is an asset
- Experience working with youth, newcomer or populations with multiple barriers is an asset
- Strong facilitation skills with proven experience leading pre-employment, job search, career information workshops and presentations to a youth audience is an asset
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in high demand environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer proficient - Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Office 365)
- High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment
- Emergency First Aid/CPR-C Certificate required, can be obtained with first 30 days of employment
- Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
