**Hours of Work**: 35 hours per week, including some evenings (until 7 pm) and weekends (9-5 pm)

**Salary**: $57,000-$61,000

**Start Date**: ASAP

**End Date**: Feb 28, 2025

**Reports To**: Manager, Employment Programs

**Nature and Scope**:
The YMCA of Greater Vancouver has delivered employment programs for over 35 years. Over this period, the organization has become one of the leading service providers in the provision of youth-oriented employment services and other underrepresented groups in the labour force. These programs are designed to support a wide range of job seekers, from youth with multiple barriers to employment attempting to land their first ever job, to newcomers to Canada looking to land their first job in their new home. The YMCA of Greater Vancouver has assisted thousands of job seekers in developing vital skills, acquiring vocational certification, building confidence and securing sustainable employment

This position has the primary responsibility for supervising the YCafe Training program. The YMCA Cafe program will equip program participants from underrepresented groups in the labour force for jobs in the food services sector through classroom-based learning and on-the job training in our YMCA training cafe. The supervisor will oversee the operations of the program and cafe, a staff team of 3 Employment Coaches, 1 Administrative Assistant, and program participants during their YCafe work experience. This position requires evening and weekend work as well.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Supervise day-to-day operations of a small cafe, including food safety, inventory, scheduling and marketing
- Experience in the Café and Food industry, and managing a small business.
- Oversee the delivery of a high-quality program that meets government and YMCA requirements/standards
- Provide leadership, training, coaching, and supervision to a team of 3 full-time and 1 part-time staff and complete all personnel administration
- Participate in full cycle HR processes with employees as necessary, including recruitment, orientation, training, coaching, development, and discipline
- Ensure compliance with all terms of program agreements and support team to meet funding requirements including: targets, expenditures of funds, financial and statistical reporting
- Implement and refine a promotions plan, ensuring that the outreach initiatives achieve program targets
- Collect statistical and program information and create quarterly activity reports
- Conduct outreach in order to engage and recruit suitable participants
- Recruit potential employers for work and volunteer opportunities for participants
- Plans, participates in and supports Association-wide initiatives and fundraising events
- Ensure the YMCA's reputation as charity of choice is understood and supported by the community
- Ensure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards, policies and procedures

**Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary education in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education/ work experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the food service sector, preferably in a leadership position
- Minimum 1 year experience supervising staff or volunteers
- Experience working with youth or persons facing barriers due to challenges with mental illness & substance use including concurrent disorders
- Experience with developing and facilitating community based programming and service
