**Position Title**
- Print Technician**Position Summary**
- The Print Technician is responsible for assessing, coordinating, and processing a wide variety of print production and operational functions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.- Incumbents are cross trained in the operational aspects of print production, document management, and administrative duties to provide an all-inclusive print solution to clients.**Position Responsibilities**
**Print Production**
- Assess, coordinate, and process a wide variety of print requests ensuring the most appropriate strategies and solutions are used.
- Provide accurate and relevant advice, training, and consultation to clients regarding the production of print requests.
- Ensure confidentiality of all submitted materials.
- Operate a wide variety of digital print, bindery, finishing equipment, and computer hardware/software.
- Develop competency with new technologies/equipment.
- Perform standard maintenance and resolve minor issues on equipment; escalate to internal or external support services as required.
- Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety regulations to provide a safe work environment.
**Print Operations and Support**
- Monitor and maintain inventory of all supplies and materials associated with the needs of print operation.
- Submit monthly machine reads to vendors; verify invoices for accuracy; approve payment.
- Maintain current costs for services and update price lists accordingly.
- Order cash float, handle cash according to established procedures, complete weekly deposits
- Process monthly chargebacks and invoice requests.
- Assist with year-end inventory, including the preparation and organization of all Print Centre materials and supplies.
- Order and receive supplies and materials; approve invoices for payment in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Assist with management of software supporting print services.
- Ensure print equipment and related software is appropriately evaluated prior to issuing a purchase request.
- Assist department staff with workload as needed.
- Contribute to development of the annual budget, operational plans, and department goals.
- Provide training and guidance to other department staff on systems, processes, and use of equipment (toner cartridges, paper jams, printer setup, computer configuration for print queues).
- Provide tier 1 support for the distributed printer fleet and escalate issues if needed.
- Provide input on the managed print contract and support renewal processes when needed.
**Records**
- Provide cover off for records retrieval.
- Use established systems and procedures for managing records.
- Assist with the organization and placement of records.

- Actively participate in training and professional development activities as they become available.
- Actively acquire knowledge and skills related to this position.
- Familiarize self with policy and procedures to effectively meet user needs.
- Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues as appropriate on a regular and ongoing basis to contribute to shared learning.
**Required Qualifications**
- Completion of a 1-year college certificate, one year University or equivalent.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- 2-3 years experience
- Working knowledge of records and document management
- Working knowledge of computer software and hardware, networking, and digital print production
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently within a team structure with mínimal or no supervision
- Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and ability to engage effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Good mechanical ability and knowledge required to operate all print, bindery/finishing equipment is an asset
