Buyer - Manufacturing

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented individual to oversee all aspects of the purchasing process including timely ordering of parts, supplies and materials, processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating, and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management, maintain a database of approved suppliers and vendors. The buyer will work with staff across shop departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.
**Responsibilities**:
- Research, select and purchase quality products and materials, and ensure that purchased products meet specific requirements.
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate best pricing.
- Follow procedure to have suppliers and subcontractors added to the approved list.
- Process requisitions and update shop departments and management on status of orders.
- Maintain a follow-up file on all open purchase orders.
- Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
- Arrange cost-effective transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate inventory with management as required.
- Assess the quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Assist in shipping activities as required and the organization of the storage and parts holding area.
**Requirements**:
- High School Diploma or Bachelor's
- Degree in relevant field.
- Three (3) years’ experience as an industrial buyer or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Proficient in appropriate software.
- Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in the English language.
- Ability to multi-task and meet frequent demanding deadlines.
- Strong work ethic and organizational, planning skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
**Job Types**: Permanent, Full-time
**Salary**: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per hour
