**The Opportunity**
Main Responsibilities
- **Sales Performance**: Achieve annual sales targets for the bluestem product line in Canada by effectively managing trade budgets and sales related expenses.
- **Customer Relationships**: Develop and maintain robust relationships with existing and new bluestem distributors and key customer accounts. Serve as the primary liaison with head office customer partners to enhance business opportunities.
- **Market Expansion**: Expand the market presence of bluestem by identifying new customer opportunities, increasing depth and breadth of distribution, and enhancing the visibility of the product line within the Canadian Pet Specialty sector.
- **Strategic Planning**: Lead the development and execution of customer-specific sales and marketing strategies that align with overall bluestem objectives. Contribute to annual strategic planning processes with sales insights and recommendations.
- **Product Expertise**: Gain deep knowledge of the bluestem product range and its unique selling points. Represent the brand effectively at key National, Regional, and customer trade shows.
- **Sales Forecasting**: Manage and forecast customer sales for Canada, projecting sales volume and profitability for both existing and new customer/distributor accounts.
- **Performance Analysis**: Regularly analyze and report on customer performance metrics. Provide comprehensive monthly reports to management detailing achievements and areas for improvement.
- **Marketing Collaboration**: Offer constructive feedback on marketing programs and materials based on market trends and customer feedback.
- **Language Proficiency**: Must be fully bilingual in English and French, enabling effective communication across diverse customer base.
- **Industry Expertise**: Demonstrates a robust knowledge of and a proven track record in the pet specialty channel. Should have a strong understanding of key stakeholder dynamics within the animal health industry.
- **Strategic Planning**: Experienced in crafting and implementing detailed business plans tailored to achieve company objectives.
- **Relationship Management**: Skilled in establishing and nurturing strategic relationships with account buyers and head office key partners, facilitating long-term business growth.
- **Analytical and Technical Skills**: Possesses strong analytical abilities with a strong background in science.
- **Communication and Presentation**: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively and engage various audiences.
- **Self-Motivation**: Demonstrates a high degree of initiative, capable of setting and achieving ambitious goals independently and proactively addressing challenges.
- **Travel Requirements**: Willingness and ability to travel frequently within Canada and to the US, meeting with clients and stakeholders and representing the company at industry events.
