We currently have an opening for a **Risk Assessor** in our **Ottawa**, **ON** office.

**Educational & Experience Requirements**:

- Completion of a relevant university degree(s) in hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science or toxicology (advanced/graduate level degrees considered an asset);
- Possess the necessary qualifications to act as a Qualified Person for the completion of Risk Assessments in Ontario as defined by O.Reg 153/04;
- Possess a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience conducting or reviewing human health and ecological risk assessments, including risk communication and preparation of risk management strategies;
- A thorough understanding of provincial and federal Risk Assessment regulations (comprehensive knowledge of O.Reg 406/19 and the Beneficial Reuse Assessment Tool considered an asset);
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multidisciplinary environment where teamwork and collaboration are paramount;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with an unwavering commitment to quality;
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
- Experience liaising with clients, stakeholders and agencies, including public consultation and presentations; and
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients.

**Main Duties**:

- As the primary risk assessor, lead the completion of Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessments in support of brownfield redevelopment projects;
- Participate in the assessment of beneficial reuse of excess soil from a risk management perspective;
- Provide senior technical review of junior and intermediate engineer/scientist reports pertaining to environmental site assessments and human health and ecological risk assessments;
- Project management duties, including client communications, resource management, development and monitoring of project scope, cost estimates/budgets and schedules;
- Provide oversight and technical support for field investigations;
- Participate in other office and project responsibilities such as data management, analysis and interpretation, report and proposal preparation, report review, public consultation and presentations.
- Participate in GEMTEC’s business objectives and contribute to the growth of our civil and environmental engineering teams;
