**Tell me about the job**

The** Data Center Technician** is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the data center and supporting facility. Responsibilities range from installation of cabinets, equipment, cages and cross-connects, performing remote hands requests, and performing or overseeing maintenance of all critical infrastructure equipment.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

You may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization and as such the below duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Provide timely response to all internal and external technical requests
- Follow/maintain procedural and technical documentation to ensure accuracy
- Escalate events and tickets appropriately, following defined procedures
- Participate in projects as required
- Actively participate in BU training initiatives
- Work directly and remotely with the customer and **eStruxture** support staff to identify, troubleshoot, and isolate technical issues for resolution
- Customer provisioning, such as cabinet, power, and connectivity setup with adherence to SLAs and SLOs
- Sales order validation and correction and quality assurance
- Compliance with relevant SSAE 18, ISO and PCI controls
- Utilize custom monitoring software and internal ticketing system to provide internal/external customer support
- Manage access to the Data Center to prevent unauthorized access; sign in/out contractors and visitors
- Maintain the data center, ensuring it is organized, clean, and efficient
- Provide support to the Infrastructure team by monitoring, BAS controls and reporting on Data Center infrastructure
- Understanding of fire panel, UPS bypass procedures including kirk-key system
- Monitor servers for hardware and software alerts to ensure a high level of data integrity and availability
- Assist in planning and general maintenance of systems in the Data Center facilities
- Troubleshoot and Test of faulty network wiring and coordinating repair
- Perform professional services such as reboot of servers, restarting services/processes, basic configuration, administration of operating systems for external and internal customers
- Support in the day-to-day operations in the Data Center facility by performing daily walk throughs, cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, mopping, miscellaneous building maintenance, such as painting, and all other duties as assigned by the local Data Center Manager.

**Working Conditions**

**Education/Certification/Experience**
- Minimum of 2+ years in a Data Center Environment, Industry technical certifications or equivalent technology background
- Experience and understanding of electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems (fire detection, suppression, etc.)
- Experience and understanding of the Enwave CW Loop, heat exchangers, and pumping stations
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with McQuay chiller systems, APC Uniflair systems & with Caterpillar generator systems
- Electrical certifications*
- *Any designation for the above would be considered as an asset_

**Technical Skills/Knowledge**
- Possess functional knowledge of UPS systems, electrical fundamentals, HVAC systems and mechanical fundamentals
- Possess functional knowledge of BAS, BMS, and CMMS systems
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts and practices related to mechanical and electrical systems
- Must understand hot-aisle containment concepts
- Must understand and have experience with over-head cooling systems
- Working knowledge of VESDA systems and of DELTA controls systems (BMS)
