**Position Summary**:
Ontario Fire Academy is actively seeking experienced **Part-Time Fire Service Instructors** in a variety of disciplines to meet our expanding operations. The Ontario Fire Academy operates out of a training facility located near Orangeville, Ontario.

We are currently seeking Part-Time Instructors who are qualified to teach NFPA programs. The Instructors will deliver in-class and practical instructions to a mixture of local and national students.

**Primary Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Conduct student evaluations.
- Create a positive learning environment that accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.
- Utilize principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process.
- Work collaboratively, and effectively with students, the management team, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain behaviour and actions consistent with College policies.
- Continue professional development and growth according to personal needs and certification requirements.
- Provide input on the continuous improvement activities for College.
- **Please note - Instructors are required to work a minimum of four shifts per month onsite at the Mono, Ontario location. **_

**Qualifications**:

- High School Diploma or GED is required with additional secondary education.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible fire-related experience.
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I and Level II.
- NFPA 1072 Hazmat Awareness & Hazmat Operations.
- Knowledge of the accreditation body's training standards (NFPA, OFM, IFSAC)
- Well-rounded knowledge of fire service professional education and training programs and operations.
- Must have working knowledge of modern firefighting, fire prevention, operations and maintenance of fire apparatus and equipment.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, adult education principles, techniques, and practices to prepare and present training programs in varied forms across diverse media, including eLearning technology.
- Knowledge of models of teaching and have experience with curriculum development in order to design and deliver course content.
- Research, evaluation and time management skills to develop, administer, score, and evaluate written, oral, and practical evaluations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to deliver course material and presentations.
- Keen understanding of fire department operations and fire services personnel roles and responsibilities.
- Excellent ability to work collaboratively, and effectively in a team-based environment as well as independently.
- Demonstrates and promotes professionalism, ethics, and values-based behaviour.
- Proven ability to establish and utilize relationships and networks across a broad range of groups and people to maximize the school’s objectives.
- Advanced knowledge of change management practices to ensure adoption and sustainment of operational changes.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to act effectively in stressful situations.
- Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Keen understanding of fire department operations and fire services personnel roles and responsibilities.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Certified NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level I
- Certified NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level II
- Certified NFPA 1521 Incident Safety Officer
- OFM Associate Instructor
- OFMEM Provincial Evaluation
- Canadian Armed Forces experience
