**Maintenance Planner**

**JOB PURPOSE**

The Maintenance Planner establishes project management (PM) requirements regarding facilities’ equipment and shop production machinery. The Planner will be optimizing and continuously improving existing and new PM schedules using preventive and predictive maintenance techniques and will support the migration and ultimate administration of the CMMS software. The Planner utilizes analytical data evaluation tools to evaluate new and existing PMs to improve equipment efficiency to eliminate unplanned downtime and meet our business needs.

**JOB STRUCTURE AND COMMUNICATIONS**
- Reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.
- This position has no direct reports.
- This position will frequently be conveying and exchanging information with internal employees of BWXT including: unionized shop employees, Shop Supervisors, Lead Hands, etc. in order to plan and coordinate maintenance activities and projects.
- This position will require the ability to influence without direct authority.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**

**Health & Safety**:

- Ensures maintenance group compliance with all health & safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Contributes to an accident-free work environment.

**Scheduling**:

- Creates a weekly plan and schedule corrective and preventive maintenance activities by task and priority level.
- Reviews jobs to be done and determines with the maintenance group the best way to accomplish the work.
- Produces Daily and/or weekly Maintenance Work Schedules with Projected Work Schedules.
- Follows up and communicate the schedule to all resources.

**CMMS Management**:

- Uses CMMS software to align complex maintenance tasks with operation requirements.
- Manages work orders, documentation, and assets within the CMMS.
- Follows up with completed work jobs are turned in and updated in the CMMS.
- Manages a backlog of work orders in CMMS which require equipment to be scheduled.

**Troubleshooting**:

- Assist with troubleshooting and solving problems related to equipment downtime.
- Assist in investigations through data compilation and statistical analysis to determine the root cause for both special and common cause events.

**Continuous Improvement**:

- Contributes to process improvement projects with continuous improvement initiatives.

**Part Management**:

- Manages critical spare parts for new and existing programs.
- Coordinate the purchase of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies to ensure production needs are met.
- Identifies and secures all parts and materials required to complete the work.

**Other Duties**:

- Monitors maintenance costs and operate within the established maintenance budget.
- Assists with the development of our MRO spare parts strategy.
- Reviews all planned work requests and determine the validity and accuracy of information.
- Work with Production Supervisors in order to ensure that assets are prepared for maintenance work as scheduled.
- Keep accurate metrics on performance of planning and scheduling and provide a report to Maintenance Manager from time to time.
- Promote a culture that reinforces Company’s values and expectations.
- Acquires and uses technical knowledge to support growth in the overall SQDCM manufacturing processes.
- Generates and distributes all Maintenance documentation: Work Orders and PMs, Maintenance Wrench Time and KPI reports.
- Maintains the process and building equipment in operation to ensure maximum availability to maximize production efficiency.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

**KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of planning/scheduling experience with CMMS Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills to work in conjunction with the team.
- Highly analytical in nature, able to interpret, manipulate, and present data.
- Able to interpret preventive maintenance feedback and use this feedback to develop and implement action plans that improve our preventive maintenance programs.
- Strong relationship builder who can effectively work cross-functionally.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Adequate craft knowledge and skill to estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job. Must have a demonstrated ability to visualize and communicate the execution of work.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Ability to provide simple and accurate instructions.
- Ability to read standard blueprints, machine and process drawings. Ability to sketch or redline existing drawings.
- Knowledge and understanding of the maintenance processes scheduling techniques.
- Diploma in a Mechanical or Electrical engineering Program considered an asset.
- Experience with CMS, CMMS considered an asset.
