Position Summary
What will you be doing?
As an Inclusion Coordinator, you will be responsible for the supervision of Inclusion Support Workers and the administration and oversight of our integrated and segregated summer camp programs for campers with exceptionalities, 4-18 years of age. This position reports to the Camp Director.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Coordinating the intake process for inclusion campers; reviewing All About Me forms, meeting with parents in advance of camp (if required) to understand camper’s individual support needs
- Daily check ins with Inclusion Supervisor and Inclusion Support Workers to ensure quality program delivery
- Supervision of Inclusion Support Workers and ensuring all performance expectations are met, and complete performance evaluations
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of camp policies and procedures, and supporting the enforcement of established rules and guidelines governing the safety and conduct of campers
- Reviewing registration numbers weekly, and scheduling staff accordingly, ensuring appropriate supervision ratios, including the scheduling of breaks
- Providing administrative support to the Recreation Coordinators, and Behaviour Specialists, with the facilitation of inclusion camp training
- Assist with payroll processes
- Purchasing, tracking and inventory of all adaptive equipment, keeping within allotted budget
- Supporting Inclusion Support Workers with program adaptations or alternative program options if required, ensuring the inclusion of campers of all abilities and needs
- Completing Quest 2 evaluations for required for specialized camp programs
- Carrying out HIGH FIVE® staff recognition program and staff appreciation activities
- Visiting camp sites daily and participating in camps to ensure quality program delivery
- Addressing parent/guardian concerns and communicating to the Camp Directors and Recreation Coordinators all necessary parental/public concerns and all camper accidents and incidents
- Assisting the Behaviour Specialists with Behaviour Management tracking
- Reporting any incidents, concerns or site damage to the Coordinator, Recreation ensuring all appropriate forms are completed accurately
- Assisting with tasks of personal care including; changing, toileting and feeding as required
- Documenting and administering medication to camper(s) as outlined in our medication policy (when required)
- Wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as it relates to the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Adhering to all established departmental safety standards and practices
- Performing all other duties as assigned
What will we need from you?
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, to a maximum of 44 hours. Hours vary based on program registrations. This position typically works a full camp day, Monday - Friday
- Attendance at mandatory paid trainings that occur during evenings and weekends throughout May and June is a condition of employment
- Attendance at all mandatory paid bi-weekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours
Education & Experience
- Attending or completion of a degree/diploma program in Social Work, Recreation, or related discipline
- Minimum two (2) years experience working with persons with exceptionalities
- Minimum two (2) years experience working in a camp environment, with program planning and organizational experience preferred
- Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience required
- Knowledge of program adaptations and behaviour modification techniques
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) is required
- Standard First Aid and CPR C is required
- HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) required
- Quest 2 certification required
- Able to swim and be comfortable with supporting participants in the pool during camp swim
- Able to perform all activities including but not limited to: lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
- Knowledge of basic American Sign Language (ASL) and augmentative communication aids an asset
- Experience with working with medically fragile participants an asset
- Under the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon employment.
