Operational Service Center Customs Supervisor

We are looking to hire a Operational Service Center Supervisor for our Customs division based in Mississauga.
**YOUR ROLE **:Target Setting and Professional Development, the development of OCC teams to support the goals of visibility and data quality Planning for primary and backup and development of 24/7 planning and day to Day Operations SOP.
**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Actively recruit and hire new team members with the appropriate experience.
- Consistent assessment of individual skill sets and identify opportunities for coaching and mentoring.
- Collaboratively develop training programs to consistently up-skill individual and team success.
- Development of Operations teams that are right-sized for their area of responsibility and skill-set with the appropriate allocation of accounts per team.
- Development of primary and backup contact matrix to ensure continuity of operations processes.
- Scheduling of 24/7 Operations that offer seamless operational excellence for our customers.
- Development of Operations Service Center SOP that is reviewed quarterly to ensure a consistent identification of process improvement skill set that promotes individual and team success.
- Assure the delivery of the agreed service levels.
- Ensure team productivity and further KPI Targets to be defined and monitored.
- Maximizes Gross Profit, NP2 and achieving mutual Targets.
- Development of SSC and Operations Service Center communication matrix that promotes one-team concept, visibility, ownership and accountability for individual and team success.
**YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES**:
- Certified Customs Specialist certified or grandfathered from original CSCB certification program with a minimum 10 years of direct Canadian Customs Tariff classification experience.
Excellent grasp of tariff classification, OGD requirements, permits, amendments, NAFTAs, etc.
- Capable of researching products online and asking clients pertinent questions for accurate classifications
- Experience with all modes of transport, air, truck, rail and ocean.
- Must be able to work effectively while under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- Monitors and/or reports on defined aspects of regulatory compliance for an assigned area in order to identify any gaps with regulatory requirements.
- Provides accurate and timely feedback to the Manager including recommending specific actions to achieve/exceed operational targets/requirements.
- Supports the Manager in identifying training needs for the individual/team/ department by analyzing operational performance results/statistics and by reviewing employee and team performance against key service indicators.
- Provides agreed on job training or coaching to individuals and the team in order to achieve optimum work effectiveness and employee motivation. Documents and provides specific and appropriate feedback to individuals and to the Manager.
- Assists the Manager in reviewing and planning defined elements of the operation (shift patterns, overtime, equipment renewal/repair, allocation of duties etc). Includes collating and analyzing information and creating realistic and workable plans.
- Daily allocates, monitors and controls the flow of work to ensure departmental targets and standards are met.
- Good overall knowledge of strategies, goals, key functions, processes, systems etc. and of the global business environment e.g., Customs and regulatory authorities Customer, competitor, economic, technology etc.
- In depth knowledge of current & local customs related regulations, legislation & practices with experience of managing profitability and regulatory and service compliance.
- Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills with experience of interpreting complex requirements and developing business focused solutions.
- Good planning & organizing skills with experience of determining requirements & priorities, developing & implementing appropriate plans/objectives to ensure timely departmental goal achievement
- Excellent judgement & reasoning ability.
- Good understanding of clearance systems capabilities and functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex requirements and compose an effective business letter.
