- **RESIDENTIAL CARE (PROGRAM) MANAGER**_

Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program; provides ongoing supervision of employees; implements and evaluates program policies, procedures and individuals’ plans. Promotes and upholds the rights of the individuals we serve, and honours their choices; ensures and enhances the quality of service through a cooperative management support system.

**REPORTS TO: Agency director or designate**

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Participates as a member of a multi-discipline management team. Provides academic/experiential knowledge and education support to team members. Participates in Program Back-up and Support System.

Facilitates the identification of the physical, emotional and programming needs of the individuals we serve. Participates with the individuals, their family members, employees and others stakeholders in the planning, evaluation and provision of individualized agency services. Liaises with other community service providers and professionals to coordinate services. Ensures individual service plans are complete and properly documented.

Schedules, supervises and evaluates performance of employees. Hires and/or assists in recruiting and selecting of employees and provides guidance, training and orientation on policies and procedures, behaviour or medical techniques, report preparation or other matters arising in the program.

Provides leadership and guidance to employees. Has a sound knowledge of the collective agreement and ensures it is properly followed. Directs, evaluates and disciplines employees.

Ensures health and safety standards are in place. Recognizes, analyzes and deals with potential emergency situations such as an individual’s aggressive behaviour to minimize harm to the individuals, employees and/or the public. Ensures emergency response protocols are established and documented if required. Ensures proper protocols/procedures are correctly implemented and followed.

Ensures the cleanliness, security and maintenance of the program site in accordance with regulations and agency policy.

Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary program guidelines and policies are in place and adhered to and program standards are met. Has a full understanding of and follows Ministry legislation, applicable regulation and agency policies and procedures.

Is responsible for and authorizes expenditures within the operating guidelines and maintains financial records in accordance with established procedures. Ensures payroll functions are completed in accordance with established procedures.

Liaises with the general community, other agencies, day or residential services, government or other organizations and promotes community involvement in the program. Promotes public awareness of and support for the program.

Maintains and monitors the individual’s inventory of property as required.

Participates in the agency’s continuous quality improvement process.

Uses sound judgement; carries out job duties in a professional manner and is guided at all times by the agency’s Code of Ethics.

Performs other related duties as required.

**Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience**

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related human/social service field with an emphasis on community living services.

Three year recent related experience including one year supervisory or management experience. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the client population.

Demonstrated ability to resolve and effectively manage stressful and emergency/crisis situations.

Demonstrated ability to work independently within established agency policies and procedures.

Demonstrated ability in written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in English.

Able to meet applicable Ministry legislation and regulations (e.g. Community Care and Assisted Living Act and applicable regulations) and agency policies.

**Employment Requirements**:
Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence, a willingness to upgrade to Class 4 and a drivers abstract showing fewer than 4 tickets that carry penalty points in previous 2 years **and** no motor vehicle related Criminal Code of Canada conviction in the previous 3 years

Valid First Aid and CPR certificates

Valid WHMIS and Food Safe Certificates

Current and negative Mantoux (TB) test

Valid, current and clear Criminal Record Check completed through the CRIMINAL RECORDS R
