The residential manager's role at Abilities involves planning, directing, and coordinating resources in our residential program. This means being responsible for managing all activities such as staff conflicts, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures, and maximizing the strategic use of employees while adhering to applicable guidelines and regulations.

**Tasks**
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of a residential group home for two individuals with a developmental disability.
- Advise employees on organizational policy matters.
- Identify staff position vacancies and inform Human Resources.
- Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, and administering progressive management procedures.
- Plan and conduct new employee orientations to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
- Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labour relations, and employee relations.
- Plan, organize, direct, control or coordinate the personnel, training, or labour relations activities of an organization.
- Represent the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, administering support plans and helping resolve work-related problems.
- Be available for the weekend on-call rotating schedule.
- Other tasks as needed.

**Qualifications and requirements**
- Experience as a Community Support Worker (>3 years).
- Management experience or education (>1 year) is an asset. Management experience in supporting people with developmental disabilities and/or mental health challenges is preferred.
- Ability to give full attention to the team’s concern, to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work.
- Ability to be aware of others' reactions and understand various reactions, to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and to bring others together and try to reconcile differences.
- Valid Class 5 BC License.

**Lines of communication**

**Working conditions**
- This is a full-time, union-excluded position, Monday to Friday.
- Managers are expected to be available monthly for a weekend on-call rotation.
- Working various hours to ensure the Residence is staffed in emergency situations.

**Compensation**
- This is a salaried position $79,040.00 per year
- Includes full benefits package.
