Metro Vancouver Regional District, Canada First Nations Health Authority Full time

**FNHA Overview**:
The First Nations Health Authority is a diverse and transformational health organization of professional, innovative and dedicated team members and leaders.

The first of its kind in Canada, FNHA works as a health-and-wellness partner with BC First Nations to support self-determination and decision-making to improve health outcomes.

**JOIN OUR HISTORIC JOURNEY**
At FNHA, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to BC’s history. With a unique governing structure and mandate, our fluid work environment means you can play an active role in real change.
Our talented teams value respect and foster lateral kindness in their working relationships. Our holistic approach to wellness, based on First Nations teachings, is incorporated into all aspects of work culture. Where else will you get to create a personal wellness plan as part of your performance goals?

**Position Summary**:
The students will support the OCMO to begin developing a stregnths-based indicator for the Population Health and Wellness Agenda (PHWA) for conceptualizing and measure connection to land and self-determination within a BC First Nations context. The PHWA represents the next 10-year time frame (2020-2030) and a new stage in how the health and wellness of First Nations in BC is monitored, assessed, and reported. The collaborative process between the FNHA and the PHO to develop a new suite of indicators, set targets, and develop reports together is a step forward in reconciliation work in BC and in decolonizing reporting initiatives. The PHWA prioritizes a First Nations perspective and offers a holistic strengths-based approach to First Nations health and wellness. It uses “two-eyed seeing” to use Western data and First Nations teachings, qualitative data, and stories together.

These positions will support ongoing projects within the OCMO including research projects, population health reporting, and strategic wellness planning in collaboration with our health system partners. To this end, the students will undertake environmental scans and literature reviews and develop matrices and summaries of findings related to an array of public health topics.

**As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.**

**Responsibilities**:
The students will lead knowledge syntheses through developing matrices, conducting literature reviews, environmental scans and supporting data quality assessments. The students will also lead key informant interviews and compile the findings from the knowledge synthesis and interviews into reports, presentations, and summaries for FNHA’s internal use.

**Qualifications**:

- Currently enrolled in a graduate level Public Policy, Public Adminsitration, Public Health, or other relevant graduate level program
- Relevant and recent experience in analysis, ideally in the health sector or with First Nations policy and priorities

Beneficial
- Previous experience working in Indigenous policy, healthcare or the not-for profit sector is an asset
