Farmboy Fine Arts is looking for a new Controller

**The role**:
The Controller is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting and operational finance functions. They manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary to drive the operational management and accurate accounting of company results across multiple entities. The Controller supervises and supports members of the finance team in their day-to-day functions while coordinating and preparing all internal and external financial information and statements. This is a highly commercial role and the Controller is expected to work with the wider team to continually drive positive improvements to the company’s commercial performance across all operations.

**Direct reports**:Accountant and/or other members of the finance team

**Salary**:$100,000 - $115,000/yr

**Experience**:CPA designation and 4-6 years as Controller or equivalent

**Core Function**:

- Supervises and supports all full cycle accounting and finance functions.
- Monitors and analyzes cash flow and provides forecasts and recommendations to management.
- Oversees maintenance, improvement and effective use of financial information systems and processes. Ensures proper internal controls are in place.
- Develops and manages internal financial management controls to ensure cost effective financial responsibility and drives positive product margin, project economics and cashflow.
- Provides US and Canadian tax planning, in conjunction with external tax advisors, and ensures compliance with all provincial, state, federal, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
- Drives external financial statement audit for various entities.
- Manages relationships with financial statement auditors and banks.
- Manages insurance strategies with various brokers and successfully employs other risk management tools.
- Analyzes financial data to make recommendations and drives continuous improvement for commercial operations of the business.
- Supervises and supports the Accountant and/or other members of the finance team.

**Details of Function**:

- Prepares financial statements, variance analysis and external reporting to all relevant stakeholders ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Participates, coordinates and directs the preparation of the evolving financial models and plans as often as necessary to reflect changing strategies.
- Prepares, and analyzes timely and relevant internal financial data and commercial management information to make recommendations for the business.
- Presents financial data and analysis in weekly meetings.
- Proactively updates the Operations Director and management team of financial issues pertaining to company operations.
- Ensures best practices in key processes are followed across the finance team.
- Carries out other projects and duties as required.

**Need to have**:

- CPA designation and 4-6 years as Controller or equivalent.
- Experience creating and implementing effective internal controls.
- Strong understanding of financial models, cash management and forecasting. A can-do attitude and a collaborative mindset.

**Like to have**:

- Experience using Accounting Seed.
- Experience using Salesforce.
- Experience setting up and implementing a new accounting software. Experience with PST or US VAT filing/compliance.
