The Pop-Up Community Garden (PUG) program helps to increase Edmontonians’ access to fresh food while providing opportunities for outdoor recreation, community involvement and wellness. This position will implement, plan and deliver the program which places temporary raised garden beds in communities across the city. The Program Coordinator - Gardens will also provide assistance to the Program Lead on projects and initiatives as they relate to community gardening as required.

**What you will do?**
- Support program planning, including the coordination of stakeholder input on guidelines and operations
Coordinate the procurement of supplies and monitor program budget
- Implement programs and initiatives based on work plans
- Provide support to successful PUG garden applicants throughout the season
- Prepare and distribute marketing and communications resources according to the Communications and Engagement Plan
- Support the development and delivery of content, information-sharing and educational opportunities, including presentations, workshops, and training
- Research and develop content for websites, social media, and other promotional materials
- Respond to customer and stakeholder inquiries
- Support the celebration of beautification and gardening efforts in the city
- Supervise seasonal staff, delegate work, and monitor task completion
- Provide input on program development, strategic planning, and policy development as needed
- Must be capable of conducting fieldwork in diverse environmental conditions, which may include being fitted with a respirator
- Manage databases and analyze key performance indicators
- Provide status reports on program deliverables and activities
- Support new projects, initiatives, and team events as required
- Valid First Aid and CPR Level C required
- Ability to drive own vehicle

**Qualifications**:

- Degree/Diploma Forestry, Agriculture, Horticulture, Botany, Biological Sciences, Recreation, Education or a related field with training in Program Development
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Program Delivery
- Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role, including coaching, scheduling, recruitment and training of staff

**Assets**:

- Experience with GIS mapping software, such as arcGIS, AEGIS, survey123, and Field Maps
- Proven experience working with, coordinating, and directing operational crews
- Ability to manage multiple projects and processes concurrently and proactively
- Strong knowledge of native plants and is confident with native tree and shrub identification
- Familiar with Volume 5 of the Design and Construction Standards and the City of Edmonton Garden Guidelines

**Skills required for success**:

- Considerable experience and knowledge of program delivery or project management
- Ability to provide leadership to staff and volunteers
- Strong ability to engage and coordinate the efforts of various internal and external stakeholders with varied professional and educational backgrounds, including non-profit organizations
- Excellent written,verbal, and customer service skills Ability to work independently effectively with little or no supervision
- Must have the flexibility to work a variety of shifts which may include evenings and weekends
- Ability to effectively handle potentially stressful situations, or situations of a sensitive nature
- Ability to work both in an office and outdoor environment in variable weather and work conditions
- Excellent organizational skills to track and record program data information
- Computer proficiency including experience with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets)

**Condition of Employment**
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position

**Hours of Work**: 40 hours per week

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

**Salary Range**: 28.274 - 35.482 (Hourly); 59,036.110 - 74,086.420 (Annually)
