**Position Title**: Community Programming Assistant
L'Arche Winnipeg is a vibrant disability services organization that is primarily located in Transcona and St. Boniface. For 50 years, we have been actively supporting, creating homes, and facilitating social opportunities for about 25 people living with intellectual disabilities, along with their assistants. Our diverse community includes six houses, one independent living unit, the L'Arche Tova Café and an extended network of friends who are passionate about creating a world where all people can thrive. Our mission is to make known the gifts of individuals with intellectual disabilities and create a world where everyone belongs.
The Office Assistant supports the life of the L’Arche Winnipeg Community by providing administrative support to Office Staff, Leadership Team, and Assistants, while building meaningful friendships with our core members (residents with intellectual disabilities) and assistants and developing a thorough understanding of L’Arche. The Office Assistant will gain valuable employment experience in the areas of disability services, social services, non-profit organization, office administration, customer service, and Microsoft Office.
The Office Assistant is a part-time position of 35 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm).
**Tasks and Responsibilities**:
- Maintain the general functioning of the office:
- Ordering supplies, maintaining office equipment, placing service calls.
- Preparing Board room for trainings and meetings.
- Maintaining cleanness of the kitchen.
- Taking out garbage and recycling.
- Provide welcoming customer service:
- Receiving and handling/directing telephone calls.
- Provide administrative support to the L’Arche Winnipeg Office:
- Taking meeting minutes, designing posters, business cards, pamphlets, and brochures.
- Compiling and sending out a weekly information bulletin and a monthly calendar to all L’Arche personnel and members.
- Supporting Assistants with the use of office equipment, forms, reports.
- Providing administrative support for special functions, retreats, and in-house trainings.
- Organizing, upgrading, and maintaining the office filing system and computer file system and ensuring that files are backed up routinely.
- Provide administrative support to the L’Arche Tova Café:
- Creating forms, designing, and updating brochures, photo fixes, menu design, and other media.
- Attend all training and formation sessions to learn about L’Arche, including but not limited to:
- Monthly Assistant’s Formation Meetings
- Assistant’s Body Meetings
- Weekly check-in meetings with Community Leader
- Online L’Arche Canada Professional Development Courses
- Contribute positively to our community culture of inclusion and friendship, including but not limited to:
- Upholding our core values of inclusion, respect, mutual care, compassion, peace, diversity.
- Building relationships with core members with intellectual disabilities, and with L’Arche Assistants and Office Staff.
- Other tasks as required.
**Start date July 2, 2024**
**Total Hours: 280hrs.**
