**Role Overview**:
We are seeking an experienced software developer to join our Edmonton office. In this role, you will work closely with our mature product, incorporating modern interfaces and methods to enhance our solutions while maintaining the existing product. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to our development efforts using C, C++, Python, and Microsoft.NET on both Windows and UNIX-based platforms.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Collaborate in All Stages**: Work with the team through planning, analysis, design, documentation, development, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance of software products.
- **Troubleshoot Complex Issues**: Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges efficiently.
- **Support Existing Codebase**: Help maintain and improve our existing code base, ensuring high-quality performance.
- **Create Essential Documentation**: Develop key documents such as test plans, user manual updates, and design specifications.
- **Define Software Requirements**: Understand customer feature requests and translate them into clear, actionable software requirements.
- **Mentor and Guide**: Share your expertise with team members, offering guidance and mentorship in your areas of significant experience.
- **Identify Improvement Areas**: Contribute to the continuous improvement of our software by defining and suggesting areas for enhancement.
- **Deepen Product Knowledge**: Obtain and maintain an in-depth understanding of our product portfolio, ideally across multiple products.

**What you bring**:

- University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or a technical diploma.
- 3+ years of experience with C/C++ development in UNIX.
- Understanding of software design, architecture, and testing methodologies.
- Experience with SCADA or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

**Additional Skills**:

- Experience with C#,.NET, FreeBSD, QNX, or VB6 is an asset.
