**Company Description**

Waapihk Research is an Indigenous-led group of passionate experts who provide data-driven research to answer questions related to Indigenous health systems and outcomes. We aim to play a supporting role in the transformation of Indigenous healthcare by empowering community leaders with the information they require to shape policy and drive meaningful outcomes.

**Position Overview**
- Collaborating with fellow researchers to conduct data-driven analyses related to projects and client files.
- Undertaking specific research tasks including cross-sectoral data acquisition, information gathering, and secondary research.
- Providing statistical analysis to support complex reports as well as a variety of documents such as briefing notes, presentations, summaries, and papers for internal and external use.
- Analyze data from multiple perspectives to weave compelling fact-based narratives.
- Lead statistical discussions, actively participate in internal project team meetings, and provide timely progress updates.
- Research statistical methodology to aid in protocol development (study design and sample size calculation) and analysis planning.
- Engage with individuals, communities, and other stakeholders across various sectors to understand impacts, best practices, and gaps in knowledge related to Indigenous health systems, datasets, and policies.
- Assist with report development and writing in collaboration with other Waapihk staff.
- Other duties, as assigned.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, engineering, epidemiology, or economics/econometrics. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Experience in supporting research activities and/or projects.
- Exceptional understanding and competency in programming languages such as R, Python, SAS, SPSS, etc.
- Experience analyzing complex government and health datasets.
- Exceptional ability summarizing and presenting findings.
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities within tight timeframes.
- Ability to work independently within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Comfortable working in a flexible and evolving environment.
- Experience working with highly sensitive material in a confidential and professional manner.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook), Microsoft Publisher, and qualitative data software or willingness to learn.

**Desired Qualifications**
- Graduate training is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and awareness of issues related to Indigenous self-governance, data governance, and health transformation reform, particularly in the province of Manitoba.
- Experience working with Indigenous and northern communities on various issues.
- Ability to communicate in Indigenous language(s) and/or previous exposure to Indigenous communities and cultures is considered an asset.

**Position Details**
- Location: Downtown Winnipeg.
- Hours: Full-time.
- Compensation: Final salary TBD (commensurate with education and/or experience).
- Proposed Start Date: ASAP / negotiable.
