**Position Overview**

**Reporting to the Project Coordinator **the Legal Workshop Facilitator is responsible for the creation and implementation of a series of interactive legal workshops that aim to familiarize youth as well as the larger community about their legal rights and responsibilities when interacting with the various systems in society. Working with a team, the Animator will be responsible for creating and carrying out school and community-based workshops focused on legal awareness, regarding crime, laws, rights, obligations and how to access channels to resolve grievances. The Senior Project Animator will also be responsible for engaging the community at large, creating social media content for the project and communicating with the project participants on an ongoing basis.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assist in the research, creation, planning, scheduling and implementation of a series of activities including the preparation of updated legal-based workshops and materials, and the animation of in-class workshops and Community-based workshops
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community agencies, lawyers, schools and community groups
- Work closely with legal experts, educational professionals, and community leaders to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
- Organize and coordinate consultations and meetings
- Collecting data from workshops/meetings and preparing reports on a regular basis
- Maintaining accurate records of project activities (minutes, attendance, results, evaluation, feedback, etc.)
- Assist in the creation of a comprehensive communication and promotion strategy
- Facilitating community engagement and outreach in locations such as community centres, schools, community organizations and online.
- Communicating on a constant basis with the Project Coordinator, providing weekly reports as needed.
- Communicating with program participants on a weekly basis to provide program updates and inform participants of upcoming meetings and events.
- Assisting with the creation of content for the project's social media pages.
- Organize information and content for publication in Newsletters
- Ensuring and maintaining effective and ongoing communication with youths and groups involved directly or indirectly in the project.
- Ensure project activities are carried out in a safe and secure manner that adheres to all COVID-19 guidelines.
- Performing other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree in law, social work, paralegal studies or other relevant area of study.
- An understanding of the legal issues and/or access to justice challenges facing Black and other minority communities, including systemic racism and anti-black racism.
- Awareness of animation principles in community development practice
- A strong understanding of, and commitment to, anti-oppression principles and an awareness of the various intersections of social identities.
- Knowledge of community development and community outreach strategies and tools
- Ability to engage with individuals from multiple access points (social networks, faith communities, community groups, and other organizations)
- Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and age
- Competency in both official languages essential (English & French)
- Strong writing and organizational skills
- Can work with a team and support project activities as needed
- Willingness to travel throughout the community for in-person workshops or events
- Experience in recruitment of participants (an asset)
- Experience facilitating online, or in-person workshops (an asset)
- Experience with social media & web content or blogging

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Montréal, QC
