The McGill Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (MORSL) provides multi‐faith resources and programming for the religious and spiritual well‐being of all McGill students. They offer support to students across the religious, spiritual, and secular spectrum and encourage students’ spiritual exploration through workshops, events, publications, and a lounge and meditation space.

Position Summary:
The interfaith dialogue workshop facilitator delivers and refines existing workshops on practical skills for interfaith dialogue as well as develops enhancements to the program to provide pathways for development and growth.

Facilitation:

- Using approved curriculum, facilitate learning in small groups of students on topics related to student needs in the area of dialogue, and aligned with design principles; aim at offering pathways for growth in the program

Program development:

- Review current workshop content and curriculum and identifies opportunities and gaps in training; refine existing and generate new training material according to needs and aligned with the design principles of the workshop format; curate resources and reference materials

Program coordination:

- Keep records according to unit processes; maintain logs, contact information, and program statistics; write sessional program reports and make recommendations for improvement

Program promotion:

- Brainstorm, plan, and execute promotional activities to recruit learning cohorts. Including working on promotional materials in accordance with standards and participating in both local and campus-wide events aimed at generating awareness of the program. Help interview and select members of the learning cohort.

General:

- Perform other duties as required; occasional frontline reception duties during the lunch period (11:30-1:30)

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to effectively research, select and adapt teaching content
- Experience in creating learning opportunities or training programs
- Skilled in workshop facilitation techniques or group animation;
- Demonstrated interfaith/intercultural competency
- Experience in interfaith dialogue and understanding of approaches to dialogue for young adults and/or students
- Excellent communication skills (listening, speaking and writing)
- Respectful, pluralistic, open-minded and curious approach towards various religious identities, traditions, and worldviews.
- Comfortable talking about faith backgrounds, practices, groups, needs
- Has a friendly, open, approachable personality and is comfortable initiating conversations with people they have not met before. Enthusiastic about connecting with people and learning about them
- Strong competencies in Microsoft Office tools in a Windows environment
- Strong organizational skills. Good at record keeping, keeping track of tasks, deliverables and deadlines, responds to inquiries in a timely manner
- Able to organize tasks and manage time to successfully meet deadlines and objectives
- Discreet, tactful with the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
