Company Biography
The County of Lambton is an urban-rural area in southwestern Ontario that is home to over 126,000 residents. Lambton County is a community dedicated to economic growth, environmental stewardship and an enhanced quality of life through the provision of responsive and efficient services and collaborative efforts with its municipal and community partners.

The Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site, tells the story of Lambton County’s important contributions to the development of the world’s oil industry. The museum preserves the site of the first commercial oil well in North America dug by James Miller Williams in 1858. Our purpose is the preservation, enhancement and presentation of oil heritage, its artifacts, culture and the history of the County of Lambton and its surroundings. Please note that due to the semi-remote location of the museum, it is not accessible by public transportation. For more information visit lambtonmuseums.ca/oilmuseum
