Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. This role may involve weekend evening hours, as well as occasional travel.

Job Reports To: Acting Director, Learning & Engagement

**Key Activities**:
Arts Alive is the learning and engagement hub at Canada’s National Arts Centre, where theatre, dance, and music come alive. A cross-departmental collaboration between all the artistic programming departments at the NAC, Arts Alive supports and develops performances, workshops, special projects for families and school and produces professional development events and resources for educators and teaching artists. Activities take place in the National Capital Region and across the country, often in association with community partners.

Reporting to the Acting Director, Learning & Engagement (L&E), the Manager of Learning & Engagement leads the coordination of the cross-departmental Arts Alive team to support, develop, and produce a broad range of L&E programs. The Manager works with the Acting Director and the Administrative Coordinator to support the Arts Alive team and oversee its effective functioning in day-to-day operations, as well as the fostering and maintenance of a healthy, productive, and innovative work environment.

As well as coordinating the internal team, the incumbent will oversee the contracting and supervision of teaching artists, facilitate and manage partnerships, assist with the curation of the Arts Alive website, and collaborate on special projects with both internal and external stakeholders.

Active participation in NAC committees and participation in research and conference initiatives are also part of this position.

This role may involve weekend and evening hours, as well as occasional travel.

**Skill Requirements**:

- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience work experience
- Post-secondary studies in arts administration, communications, education, or a related field (or an exceptional level of professional experience in lieu of formal study)
- Experience with producing and presenting learning & engagement programming
- Experience in management and leading teams in a complex and changing environment
- Bilingual - Strong verbal and written skills in both English and French
- Strong sense for creative processes and workshop development, and the ability to anticipate and support the needs of teaching artists and co-producing partners;
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, including budget management;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and understanding of the sensitivity required when working in a creative environment;
- Familiarity with, and deep interest in, the performing arts and learning & engagement landscapes at local and national levels;
- Familiarity with, and deep interest in, decolonization and equity, diversity, and inclusion in performing arts and education/learning;
- Ability to evaluate and manage priorities, work on multiple initiatives simultaneously, and adapt quickly to a fast-paced, complex environment;
- Ability to maintain discretion and absolute confidentiality at all times;
- Computing skills including Microsoft 365 and Adobe CS;
- Knowledge of and experience working in Agile practices (including Scrum Manager certification) is an asset.
