**YOUTH ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR**

Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth and Families is a multi-service non-profit organization serving Inuit children, youth and their families and are dedicated to providing cultural, educational, and support services in a caring, respectful, and collaborative environment that fosters strong and proud Inuit children and families.

**Position**:Youth Employment Coordinator

**Hours**:37.5 hours per week - **Determinate**

Under the supervision of the Manager of Education, the Silatuniq Coordinator plans, organizes and delivers cultural information, education and support to schools, students and parents in promoting the re - engagement of students in elementary, secondary school or employment success. The coordinator helps the Youth Mentors facilitate the youth counsel. Coordinator also helps to organize the planning of events for children, youth and families connected to the program.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supervise the Student Support Services Workers in the delivery of all aspects of student and parental support services and advocating for the learning needs of Inuit students
- Coordinate delivery of information, resources, and supports to school staff to increase cultural competency
- Promote the Silatuniq Program within the community and develop appropriate promotional and information resources
- Develop and deliver cultural presentations that meet learning outcomes of students
- Liaise with schools’ boards to advocate for the learning needs of Inuit students
- Support the hiring process for the Silatuniq Program staff in keeping with Inuuqatigiit policies and procedures
- Coordinate case conferencing and required follow-up
- Work with project/program staff and support them in meeting all their program deliverables
- Develop funding proposals in collaboration with the Manager of Education and Director of Programs, Finance and Administration
- Oversee maintenance of student charts/notes in a secure and confidential manner
- Write program reports and conduct program evaluations
- Complete all administrative tasks required to fulfill funder requirements
- Adhere to and promote the mandate and mission of the Inuuqatigiit

**QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS**
- Inuit descent preferred
- Experience working with Inuit or Indigenous communities
- Post-secondary education in related field
- Previous experience facilitating groups and/or doing presentations
- Experience in project coordination, outreach, program delivery and quality assurance
- Current Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector, required in keeping with the Centre’s policies and procedures
- Medical certification of good health and fitness to work
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccine (Dose 1 & 2 and booster), TB Test if applicable and other immunizations up to date
- CPR / First Aid Certification (or willingness to become certified).

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- Fluency in Inuktitut an asset
- Knowledge of the needs of Inuit children and families
- Knowledge of Inuit and non-Inuit community services and supports
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English
- Ability to work independently and to task
- Ability to operate computer systems and relevant software
- Strong organizational, program planning, evaluation, fiscal management and problem-solving skills.
- Effective workshop development, facilitation and presentation skills
- Ability to function effectively in a high stress, high noise environment
