**Position Description**:
This role requires an individual with a passion for teaching and research, who has the ability to prioritize responsibilities and take initiative. This position will often require flexibility in the duties performed and the ability to work as part of a diverse group.

**Here's What You'll Do**:

- Assist with trainee supervision and contribute to trainee projects in terms of academic direction, experimental design, data acquisition/analysis and eventual abstract/manuscript and presentation preparation
- Provide supervision within the research group on technical matters
- Development of research methods
- Execution of independent research projects
- Performing basic and advanced experimental procedures in molecular and cellular biology
- Performing highly proficient scientific work such as planning and conducting a series of experiments, correlating data obtained, evaluating results, and contributing to grant/peer reviewed scientific manuscripts writing

**Here's What You'll Need**:

- Hands-on experience for techniques such as:

- Gene editing (CRISPR/Cas-9)
- Lentivirus production and tranduction
- Gene cloning and bacterial transformation
- Quantitative Real Time PCR for mRNA as well as miRNA expression, and primer design
- Tissue culture and cell transfection
- Immunofluorescent staining and microscopy
- Practical experience in flow cytometry as an asset
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), as well as interpersonal and teaching skills
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to function independently but yet collaboratively within the team, and demonstrate a strong work ethic and initiative
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and detailed and precise record keeping

**Employment Type**: Full-time Temporary 1 Year Contract with Modified Benefits (i.e., health & dental)
