The Customer Service Representative, Cashier will ensure efficient operation for the Cashier Office. The incumbent will provide seamless, prompt, friendly, customer-focused service to patients, resident, families, staff (internal and external), volunteers and general public. The incumbent will also represent Providence Healthcare to its various constituencies in a manner that is courteous, helpful and professional.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive cash and cheques for resident and patient trust accounts, and issue receipts.
- Post payments to the hospital and Houses of Providence.
- Manage weekly and monthly deposits from the retail outlets 9Beauty Salon, Cafeteria) and debit trust accounts for charges.
- Post payments for dental and Adult Day Program
- Reimburse petty cash to staff
- Receive payments and issue parking passes and account for their sales and distribution.
- Issue taxi slips.
- Provide assistance to patients, residents and their families in dealing with such personal affairs as financial arrangements, wills and estates.
- Balance cash drawer at the end of each shift.
- Type and mail correspondence, as required.
- Compile financial information, as required.
- Reporting to the Ministry of Health.
- Handle phone calls to Admitting Office and Business Office from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Assist with Customer Service representative (Switchboard) duties, as required.
- Perform computer-related duties, as required
- Assist with other work-related duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Accounting background, accounting knowledge through Community college program and through CAG courses.
- Sound knowledge of office and accounts receivable procedures, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Computerized accounts receivable system experience.
- Ability to handle cash transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, issuing receipts and balancing the cash drawer.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to relate to the public in a patient, courteous and co-operative manner.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency in the operation of Meridian M2250 Attendant Console (or ability to learn).
