**Job Summary**

Reporting to the FT Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for two key elements within the programming department, the Museum’s extensive volunteer program and the coordination of the Museum’s Education Programs and Birthday Parties.

As the volunteer coordinator this position is responsible for coordinating all youth, adult, and senior volunteers at the Museum including the Museum’s coop/internship programs. This includes recruitment, training, placements, supervision and evaluation.

As the education coordinator this position is responsible for the booking of all education programs/tours and birthday parties and assisting with the delivery of specialized education programs. As well, under the direction of the FT Program Coordinator this position will also be responsible for assisting with the development, revamping, marketing, program evaluations, staff training, and ensuring all supplies are prepared for education, birthday parties and public programs.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Meets with FT Program Coordinator to review previous programs and course offerings and discuss new offerings, in order to assist in determining target recipients, resource requirements and volunteers needed as well as possible marketing approach. This includes both Education and Public program offerings for preschoolers to seniors.
- Liaises directly with teachers/educators, parents and other customers to book all education and public programs (i.e. Birthday Parties) at the Museum that do not go through EZ Reg. This includes reviewing the details of the program with the customer to fulfil their specific needs, booking the program in CLASS and processing payments, coordination of onsite requirements/logistics, and continued support of the customers
- Meets with FT Program Coordinator to review scheduled programs and groups prior to program start or booking date to ensure everything is prepared.
- Assists the FT Program Coordinator with marketing and advertising decisions related to education, public programs, and the volunteer/mentorship program. This will include assisting with the creation content for the Museums website and seasonal issues of Markham Life that pertain to the Museum’s Volunteers, mentors, education and public programs. Working with the Museums communication representative so that all materials are provided in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist the FT Program Coordinator with the management of the coop education program with local high schools, Colleges, Universities and supervises coop students in the Museum. As well, as opportunities for work experience for diverse sectors of the community, including those with special needs and new comers.
- Meets with Educational Program Instructors to identify their needs with respect to basic supplies. Maintains inventory of supplies, reporting to the FT Program Coordinator any items needing replacement. Under the direction of the FT Program Coordinator orders/purchases supplies as required.
- Purchases and transports equipment and supplies to onsite and offsite locations as needed.
- Ensures that each Educational Program Instructor has course supplies, first aid supplies, evaluation forms, and cancellation notices.
- Observes programs on a regular basis to ensure quality program delivery and obtains feedback from participants and educators on the quality and content of programs delivered.
- Coordinates all volunteers including; recruitment, document management, monthly orientations, schedules, interviews and evaluations. Meets with department heads to arrange sufficient volunteer assistance and placements.
- Participates in recruitment opportunities at local high schools and community organizations to increase the communities’ awareness of the Museums volunteer program and youth council/mentor group.
- Attend special events and trainings as required.
